My long-standing fascination with chair design has been fed by several decades of working in design and creative contexts, culminating in re-training as an upholsterer at London Met University's School of Art, Architecture and Design. 

 

While taking my AMUSF upholstery qualification at London Met I had the good fortune to take a short course with seat weaving supremo Rachael South.

In addition to finding chairs of all kinds endlessly fascinating, I love the fact that traditional materials and tools can be used to extend the practical life of furniture - whether lending it a bold new look or faithfully returning it to its originally intended appearance.
